The Places of St. Francis
- Published in Other news items
Someone once said that the Holy Land is the fifth Gospel, because being familiar with the places where our Savior lived is a powerful tool for understanding the message He left us. The same can be said of the places associated with the person of our founder St. Francis of Assisi. Thanks be to God, these places still preserve his memory today, and likewise evoke the aura of his spirit. It is truly a grace to be able to visit and stay in these places that have become part of the history of the Franciscan Order.
However, the distances that separate many of the brothers from Italy, along with the current pandemic situation, makes it difficult for them to visit the very place Francis began his journey, as well as the various places that mark the beginnings of the Capuchin reform.
We invite you to take this special virtual pilgrimage by visiting the photo galleries of these Franciscan and Capuchin sites. Some of you may welcome the option of enriching your virtual journey with excerpts from the Franciscan and Capuchin sources, which remain our spiritual heirlooms until this day.
All the photos published below were taken by Br. Paweł Teperski, OFMCap, head of the Order's Communications Office, and are available for all the brothers to safely use for posting on websites or in presentations.
We would also like to remind you of the Capuchin Creative Commons (CCC) initiative, which is a collection of photographs taken by our brothers made available free and legally for all members of the Order around the world and intended for online and printed publications.
