Canonization of Two Sisters of the Capuchin Family

On May 15, 2022, two sisters of the greater Capuchin family were declared saints. They are Anna Maria Rubatto (Sister Maria Francesca di Gesù), founder of the Capuchin Sisters of Mother Rubatto and Carolina Santocanale (Sister Maria of Jesus), founder of the Capuchin Sisters of the Immaculate Conception of Lourdes. Both congregations are affiliated with our Order. In addition to these sisters, eight other saints have been declared, including the first lay martyr of India, Saint Lazarus (called Devasahayam) and Saint Charles de Foucauld.

His Holiness Pope Francis presided over the celebration in St. Peter's Square in the Vatican, with a great crowd of faithful, who participated with a deep sense of joy and prayerful reflection. At the end, the Pope decided to go around the square to greet the many bishops, cardinals and dignitaries present and then the faithful as well. May these two sisters, whom the Church offers as examples of holiness of life, help us to live our life more authentically and to radiate the Capuchin charism we have received.
