Meeting of the Capuchin Cultural Heritage Workers of Latin America

On December 14, 2022, an online meeting was held for the first time with the brothers and laity who work in the maintenance and management of the Capuchin cultural heritage in Latin America, that is, all those brothers and sisters who provide services within our archives, museums, and libraries. The meeting was held for Spanish and Portuguese speaking brothers and was led by Miss Patrizia Morelli and accompanied by Vicar General and CCH Councilor, Br. José Ángel Torres, and the General Councilor for CCB, Br. Silvio de Almeida. The purpose of the meeting was to provide an initial means for coming together and to encourage friars who work in the field of managing the Order's cultural and historical heritage, as well as to reflect on the importance of maintaining and preserving both our tangible and intangible historical memorabilia. "Memory is not something that is stagnant, but it is alive, it is dynamic, and it pushes us to discover the future," said Patrizia Morelli.

The meeting concluded with a sharing among the friars on the initiatives taken in this area and the challenges Latin America faces regarding the issue of preserving the Order's heritage and archives. In these online meetings we are aiming to make room for technical training and discussion for friars throughout our circumscriptions who work in museums, archives and libraries.
